Nigerians have been advised to check and double check while purchasing pharmaceutical products so as to avoid buying fake or substandard drugs.
This advice was given in Lagos at a capacity building seminar aimed at educating pharmacists and drug dealers in Nigeria .
Health corespondent, Oluwatoyin Aboh was there and brought back the story.
While speaking at the seminar, the lead Consultant and former president of the pharmaceutical society of Nigeria, Olumide Akintayo, said a lot of harm has been done to unsuspecting consumers of pharmaceutical products due to the unethical drug distribution chain in Nigeria.
Other speakers noted that since medical consumables have grievous side effects it’s important for dealers and consumers to be aware of the dangers inherent in them.
The organisers explained that the seminar was aimed at steering Nigeria away from the open drug market to a more solid drug distribution chain that will ensure effective and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical products to Nigerian consumers.
