Image result for Ahmad Ahmad ends Hayatou's hegemony in CAFHead of the Madagascar Football Federation, Ahmad Ahmad has emerged president of the Confederation of African football, CAF.

The 57 year-old Head of the Madagascar Football Association pulled off a stunning upset to oust long-serving CAF president Issa Hayatou.

Ahmad won 34 of the 54 votes in the Presidential election, which was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Thursday.

The result means a change in leadership for the first time since Cameroonian Hayatou took charge in 1988.

Ahmad becomes the seventh President of CAF in the body’s 60-year history.

It was a dramatic end to the 29-year tenure of the 70-year-old Cameroonian.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick has also been elected into the Executive Committee of CAF.

Pinnick will represent the West Zone B after defeating, Anjorin Moucharafou of Benin Republic in Thursday’s election.

Pinnick got 32 votes to Anjorin’s 17 to get a seat on CAF’s highest decision making organ.
