Tunisia, Germany sign new Immigration deal

Tunisia and Germany have agreed to repatriate 1,500 Tunisian immigrants illegally settled in Germany and hasten repatriation of rejected asylum seekers.

The agreement announced at a conference attended by Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, will see Germany providing job training for Tunisians and almost 16 million dollars in aid money.

The agreement similar to the one signed between Tunisia and Italy was praised by
President Essebsi who says it respects the sovereignty of both countries.

Merkel is under pressure to reduce the number of asylum seekers coming to her country, which has taken in more than one million migrants since 2015.
