And according to the body its teams and relief agencies are providing assistance to new arrivals at existing displacement sites, which was already hosting nearly 43,000 internally displaced persons.

Between Monday and Wednesday approximately 4,000 people arrived at the protection of civilians site adjacent to the UN Mission in South Sudan base, joining more than 25,200 IDPs already sheltering in the site.

Aid agencies say more than 7.5 million people, of a 12 million population in South Sudan are in need of humanitarian assistance, including almost 5 million people facing severe food insecurity due to displacement, conflict and economic decline.
