Automobile manufacturer, Renault-Nissan says it will double savings up to $12 billion by 2022 through closer cooperation with Mitsubishi Motors.

The alliance seeks to increase synergies from cutting costs and boosting revenue to more than six and a half billion dollars next year.

Twelve new electric models will be launched by the car manufacturer to defend the head-start it took with the current generation of battery cars, spearheaded by the Nissan Leaf and Renault Zoe.

With existing plans, combined sales volumes are expected to rise to 14 million vehicles by 2022, with projected revenue increase to $240 billion.

With this, the automobile company aims to deliver more electric vehicles and make use of shared technology and manufacturing processes.
