The Chief of Army Staff Lt, General Tukur Buratai has commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s initiative for inviting the United Nations to assist the country to negotiate with Boko Haram Islamists for the release of the Chibok Girls.
Buratai reiterated the readiness of the military authority to assist the U.N.’s negotiation team for the release of the abducted girls.
The army chief, while fielding questions from reporters shortly after the commissioning of male and post graduate hostels at the Moddibo Adama University of Technology Yola, said the military would always abide by human rights laws in its dealings.
He however described the recent video by Boko Haram’s factional leader Abubakar Shekau as that of a mad man, stressing that Shekau’s days are numbered.
Buratai maintained that the military authority will continue to partner with both the state and Federal Government including the international community in peace building mission.
