A Special Unit of the Nigerian Army has been deployed to provide security for the electorate during tomorrow’s poll in Edo state.
The deployment of the Special Forces was supervised by the general Officer commanding the 2nd Division of the Nigerian Army, Major-General Kasimu Abdulkarim.
Correspondent Carl Ofonye reports that Abdularim defied the heavy downpour in the ancient city to address the Troops of the 133 special task force battalion from Jaji.
General Abdulkarim who later spoke with the Journalists on hand after addressing his officers and men in the tone and language he wanted, said the deployment was to forestall breakdown of law and order during the election.
The Special Forces deployed to cover the Edo state Election comprises eleven officers and five hundred and fifteen men; and they are mobile and answerable to the chief of Army Staff only.
