Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the eighteen local government areas of Ondo state have bemoaned the National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun for over-ruling the verdict of the National Working Committee(NWC) of the party.
At a press briefing in Akure, the State Deputy Youth leader, Sheed Lateef urged the National leadership of the party to as a matter of principle and ethos of the APC uphold the recommendations of the Appeal Panel which affirmed that the election was compromised with fake names in the delegates list and consequent call for fresh shadow election.
Six of the eleven-member committee of the NWC had recommended nullification of the primary election and conduct of fresh shadow poll, but party National Chairman,Odigie-Oyegun suppressed the majority decision and upheld the ‘disputed’ poll in favour of Mr Olurotimi Akeredolu (SAN).
Lateef said the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari should be extended to the internal arrangement of the progressives party.
The Youth leader said this position was reinforced by their commitment to the principle of democracy that emphasised that “minority can not overrule the majority decision.
