Nigeria’s Senate President, Bukola Saraki has again lost his bid to get Justice Danladi Umar off his case at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
Saraki who is facing trial on a 16-count charge of false asset declaration had called for the resignation of the CCT Chairman from the matter, alleging that he was biased.
But in his ruling, Umar said the tribunal was the same as its chairman, hence he could not excuse himself from the matter as the trial had to go on.
This is the second time the CCT is dismissing an application from Saraki for the chairman to withdraw from the matter.
In April, the tribunal had dismissed an application brought by Saraki requesting that Justice Umar step down following allegations of fraud levelled against him.
