TVC N. The National Executive Council, NEC, of the Alliance for Democracy, AD, has restated that Chief Olusola Oke remained the governorship candidate of the party.
The party’s National Vice Chairman, North East, Alhaji Magaji Kwairanga made this clarification at a briefing, in Akure weekend. Kwairanga said: “Chief Oke’s name and that of his deputy have been duly submitted to INEC as candidates of the party in the coming election, as stipulated by the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.“It is a known fact that Dr. Akin Olowokere handed over the gubernatorial ticket of Alliance for Democracy voluntarily to Chief Oke.
“It is also a truism that the State Chapter of Alliance for Democracy, our great party was involved and consented to the candidature of Chief Olusola Oke, therefore the National Chairman and Secretary of the party are constitutionally empowered to forward the name of Chief Olusola Oke to INEC considering the constraint of time. “Let us also state that the NEC has no issue and if there are issues relating to NEC meeting, which is internal affairs of the party, the issues will be handled internally. “As we speak here, Chief Olusola Oke’s name has been duly submitted to INEC as the candidate of our party.
Now that we have a candidate who can win election for our party, it is our duty as party leaders to support him and put our party back on winning ways.” We therefore wish to appeal to all sinister interests that may wish to stir the peace in the party to desist. It would be recalled that some youths and leaders of the party, last weekend, kicked against the acceptance of Oke over alleged failure to follow due process to the party.
