President, Consumer Rights Advancement Organisation, Adeolu Ogunbanjo, has disclosed that an average of 90 per cent electricity consumers in Nigeria are not metered, thereby creating room for abnormal charges from the Electricity Distribution Companies.
Adeolu disclosed this on Wednesday while featuring on TVC’s flagship programme, “TVC Breakfast.”
According to him, the inability of the Electricity Distribution Companies, popularly known as DISCOs to effectively embark on metering of the electricity consumers has provided avenue for abnormal electricity tariff.
Adeolu categorically stated the 2014 budget provided for #30 billion for metering, he therefore urged DISCOs to be more committed to their responsibilities to prevent consumers paying for electricity not consumed.
