The Nigerian army says Tuesday’s vehicle explosion in Borno state was a foiled suicide attack.
Acting Director, Army Public Relations Unit, Col. Sani Usman, revealed that eight terrorists died in the aborted suicide attempt at a military checkpoint in Gubio.
According to Usman, the troops stopped the bombers who drove to the checkpoint in a van laden with Improvised Explosive Devices and suicide vests.
They then blew themselves up while resisting the directive of the soldiers to screen the vehicle.
But the army spokesman did not say if the military suffered any casualty.
