Kano Pillars on Thursday lost to Egyptian side, Al Ahly Sports Club, in the semifinals of the 2016 FIBA Africa Champions Cup in Cairo.
Ahly defeated the FIBA Africa Zone Three champions 71-65 and the Nigerians will now play for bronze today, when the competition ends.
Thursday’s loss was Pillars’ second to the Egyptians since the competition began.
It was a close contest as the Egyptians could not dominate the Nigerians like they did in their first encounter.
Ahly converted 53 per cent of their free throws against Pillars’ 84 per cent.
No Nigerian side have won the tournament.
