The Lagos state government has officially launched the rent-to own and rental housing scheme.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode says his administration is ready to make life more comfortable by providing readily affordable and accessible housing for Lagosians.
TVC NEWS Kareemah Salami reports that in a cosmopolitan city like Lagos, shelter is one of the biggest problems facing residents and securing an affordable roof over one’s head is not quite a stroll in the park.
With this mind, Governor Ambode is set to give residents opportunity to have decent homes.
Representing the Lagos state governor, deputy governor Idiat Adebule who flagged off the rent-to own programme said under this arrangement, individuals are required to pay 5 percent of the value of the housing unit as commitment fee and the balance spread over 10 years.
The programme allows the tenant to live on the property while paying towards full ownership.
The rental housing policy is targeted at those with regular source of income with beneficiaries required to pay one month rent as deposit.
Interested applicant must be resident in Lagos state, must be registered with Lagos State Residents Registration card, (LASSRA) must be a regular tax payer with evidence of payment and must be 21 years and above.
Adebule said a total of 4,355 units in 12 housing estates spread across the three senatorial districts will be dedicated to this programme.
The housing units are located in Epe , Agbowa, Ojokoro and Ikorodu.
