Two female suicide bombers have died in a failed attempt to invade Maiduguri the Borno state capital.
Spokesman of the state police command, Victor Isuku said the attackers were denied access during a routine check by the Nigerian army by Geleri village, on the outskirts of Maiduguri.
One of the suicide bombers detonated an explosive device strapped to her body killing herself and her accomplice whose IED vest did not explode.
Three residents of the area were also injured in the process.
The command’s Explosives Ordnance Disposal unit then rushed to the scene to render the unexploded IED safe.
