The Acting Director, Defence Information, ministry of defence, Brigadier-General Rabe Abubakar wants community leaders, youths and women to provide useful information to assist the military in dealing with criminals creating unrest in the Niger Delta.
According to him, despite accusations of a military of occupation, troops are not in the region to intimidate the people, but to protect them.

At a meeting with members of the Bayelsa state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Yenagoa, the acting director of Information, Defence Headquarters, Brigadier-general Rabe Abubakar solicits the support of the media and communities in dealing with the problem of unrest in the Niger-Delta region.
The ministry of defence and the Bayelsa state chapter of the NUJ have agreed to work closely for the protection of lives, property and critical national assets.
