This was disclosed by Water resources Minister, Suleiman Adamu while briefing Statehouse Correspondents after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting.

State House Correspondent Tai Amodu reports that a large number of abandoned projects and huge liabilities were inherited by the Buhari Administration due to the refusal of the previous administrations to adequately fund water projects

The Water Resources Ministry is determined not to follow the same path as its predecessors and has started by carrying out an audit to classify the projects.

And to show its seriousness about making a difference, the Ministry is not embarking on any new projects in the next two years as it strives to complete the projects.

Meanwhile the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved requests for citizenship for 335 persons with 245 of the requests being for citizenship by registration while 90 persons applied to be naturalised.

The Interior Minister clarified that applications rejected were not necessarily based on issues of criminality but acknowledged that the Department of State of State Security did have an input in determining whether the candidates were security threats.

The Council also approved memos for the upgrading of software for the National Pension Commission and for the provision of an information system for the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
