The Standards Organisation of Nigeria says that the investments of manufacturers in the country must be protected from unfair competition from imported products.The Standards agency assured manufacturers of this commitment at separate meetings in Lagos.
Representatives of manufacturing groups in the country at the meeting with the management of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, lamented that the present economic recession has exposed their businesses to a lot of operational challenges.
They want the agency to review its rates and charges.
The Director General of the Standards Agency agreed that there is need to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship.
Manufacturers were however warned to stop the abuse of privileges.
SON maintains that it will not negotiate its quality management and standardization.
