British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson was in Egypt on Saturday meeting his counterpart Sameh Shoukry.
It was his first visit to the country since assuming office last year.
Johnson is in Cairo for a two-day visit where he will meet top officials, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, entrepreneurs, as well as civil society leaders.
Ahead of his visit, Johnson said he was “looking forward to meeting both President Sisi and Foreign Minister Shoukry” and stated that the UK was “Egypt’s top economic partner and strong ally against terrorism and extremist ideas”.

The UK was amongst many European countries to halt flights to Sharm al-Sheikh in November 2015, after a Russian passenger plane crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
