TVC N. The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has warned the National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi to quit office or risk jail term.
The national legal adviser and member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Barrister Bashir Maidugu, who spoke on Sheriff’s behalf, disclosed that contempt charge would be filed against Makarfi if he continued to parade himself or sign any document on behalf of the party.
He said the court had decided on who is legal and who is illegal between the two political gladiators, warning the former Kaduna State governor to be mindful of the law.
”Henceforth, Makarfi should not sign any document relating to PDP because if he does, we will charge him for contempt and that will lead to prosecution,” Maidugu told Daily Trust.
”He should obey the judgement of the Appeal Court in Port Harcourt and stop parading himself as chairman of the illegal caretaker committee,” he said.
Barrister Maidugu explained that Sheriff followed due process in re-opening the PDP national secretariat which was shut by the Police since May, 2016.
”Criminal act is an act against the law but Sheriff is acting according to the law. I am surprised that Adeyeye issued such a statement,” he said.
