In a similar vein, Ahmad Ahmad  has been elected president of  the Confederation of African football CAF.

The 57 year-old Head of the Madagascar Football Association pulled off a stunning upset to oust long-serving CAF president Issa Hayatou.

Ahmad won 34 of the 54 votes in the Presidential election, which was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Thursday.

The result means a change in leadership for the first time since Cameroonian Hayatou took charge in 1988.

Ahmad becomes the seventh President of CAF in the body’s 60-year history.

It was a dramatic end to the 29-year tenure of the 70-year-old Cameroonian.
