The body of Congolese opposition leader, Etienne Tshisekedi who died in Brussels last month is to be repatriated to the Democratic Republic of Congo next week.
84-year-old Tshisekedi’s death plunged the DRC further into uncertainty, as he had played a key role in negotiations aimed at peacefully resolving the political crisis.
And the delay over repatriating his body from Brussels has blocked the implementation of a December the 31st accord between the government and the opposition to end a crisis triggered by President Joseph Kabila’s refusal to stand down.
According to the Catholic Church, which is overseeing the deal, the talks to implement the accord can only start after Tshisekedi’s funeral
