Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of a federal high court in Lagos has granted Bail to the tune of 10 million naira and two sureties in like sum to the Chinese nationals accused of importing substandard tyres into the country.
The judge in its ruling said she had evaluated the prosecutions counter affidavit and found that there was no inimical reason why the defendants should not be granted bail.
Taolung Shen, xu Jimg Yao, will deposit their international passport and residence permit as part of their bail condition. Their sureties must live within the jurisdiction of the court,they must be persons of means who pay tax and must deposit their international passport.
The two Chinese nationals, Chinedu Madubuike and two companies were arraigned on Monday,on a four count charge bordering on conspiracy to import substandard tyres and stuffing various sizes of the tyres into one, knowing that it will be injurious to human beings.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court adjourned till May the 15th for commencement trial.
