Last season’s NPFL topscorer Godwin Obaje opened his account for the season as FC Ifeanyiubah recorded a comprehensive 3-nil win over bottom side Remo Stars in a rescheduled Matchday 8 tie.
After a frustrating first half, Obaje sent his team en route to victory eight minutes after the restart when he converted from the penalty spot.
Ivorian Adou Blaise doubled the hosts’ advantage with six minutes left on the clock before Obaje added the third with a close range finish in stoppage time.
The win lifts FC Ifeanyiubah out of the bottom-four into 13th with 14 points from 11 matches.
Remo Stars are now without a win in 7 matches.
Elsewhere, Kano Pillars pushed themselves further up the standings with a 1-nil win over Wikki Tourists to stay within touching distance of leaders Plateau United and second-placed El-Kanemi Warriors.
The Kano club are now in third with 20 points from 11 matches.
