A Paris-based independent power producer, Greenwish Partners will invest $280m to build solar plants in Nigeria.
The power plants are expected to start producing electricity in the first quarter of next year.
A plant in Enugu State will produce 100 megawatts, while the company will build two others of 50 megawatts each in Kaduna and Jigawa states.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Charlotte Aubi Kalaidjian, said in Lagos.
She said the project would be funded through debts and equities. More than two million people will be supplied with electricity on the completion of the project.
Nigeria is in serious energy deficit as it currently produces less than 5,000 megawatts of electricity.
