Justice Muslim Hassan of a federal high court in Lagos, has rescued himself from the trial of former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode and a former minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman.
Counsel to the second defendant had earlier argued that the judge is likely to be biased, having worked with the EFCC,
He had also asked the court at the last adjourned date to recuse itself from the trial, and transfer the case to Abuja, where the crime was allegedly committed.
In his ruling, Justice Hassan directed that the files be transfered to the chief judge, for re-assignment.
The defendants are facing a 17-count charge of money laundering, to the tune of 4.9 billion naira.
