Strong winds and turbulent waves are dissuading those seeking to enter Europe illegally through the high seas.
Many people are still risking drowning, in their quest to make it to Europe through the Mediterranean attempt.
Now, Libya says it rescued 420 migrants trying to cross the Mediterranean to Europe.
According to the country’s navy spokesperson, General Ayub Kasem, 3 of the migrants were found dead and 30 others have been reported missing.
Kasem adds that 205 of those rescued off the coast of Tajura on Monday were Africans including 8 women and a child.
He said the coastguard also rescued 215 migrants off Zwara, west of Tripoli on Sunday, and in a separate rescue mission, the Italian coastguard said it also rescued 3,000 migrants off the coast of Libya the same day.
