Manchester United’s Europa League last-16 clash with Rostov will go ahead despite Jose Mourinho’s complaints about the pitch, UEFA has confirmed.
Mourinho slammed the Olimp-2 Stadium surface on the club’s arrival in Russia on Wednesday, having already described their draw as “bad in every aspect”.
The United boss compared the pitch to the Bird’s Nest quagmire in Beijing last summer that resulted in United’s expensive pre-season friendly against Manchester City being called off.
Other games on Thursday will see APOEL Nicosia take on Anderlecht,
FC Koebenhavn face Ajax at home. It’s Celta Vigo against FC Krasnodar.
Gent host Genk in an all Belgian affair.
Lyon will tackle Roma. Besiktas will be the guests of Olympiacos just as Borussia Moenchengladbach will be on the road to Schalke 04.
