A group of fishermen on Friday rescued a woman from the lagoon in Lagos state after she jumped into the water in an attempt to end her life.
The woman, identified as Mrs Abigail Ogunyinka said she decided to jump after she defaulted in a loan payment to a micro-finance bank.
According to Mrs Ogunyinka, she collected the loan to fund her ‘Amala’ business and has been in default for two weeks.
She said she would not be able to face the shame and embarrassment the micro finance might cause her so she decided to commit suicide.
She is at the Lagos State Police Command where Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni briefed newsmen on the incident.
Recall that on Sunday, 35-year old doctor, Allwell Orji committed suicide by jumping into the lagoon.
