The Super Eagles of Nigeria moved up one place from 41st to 40th position in the latest FIFA rankings released by the world football governing body on Thursday.
The Eagles, who have been experiencing a steady rise in the rankings in the past few months, are now fifth in Africa.
The Nigerian team played out a 1-all draw in an international friendly in London in the last FIFA free window.
Egypt are now the highest ranked African team in 19th spot followed by Senegal who dropped two places to 30th
African champions and Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup qualifying group opponents Cameroon, dropped a spot to 34th but fifth in Africa.
