An overnight landslide in Colombia’s southwestern border province of Putumayo has claimed the lives of more than 200 people, leaving 120 injured.

The landslide which was caused by heavy rains sent mud and debris crashing onto houses.

The heavy rains caused several rivers to overflow, pushing sediment onto buildings and roads in the provincial capital of Mocoa.

Local police said earlier on Saturday that 93 bodies had since been recovered, and the disaster response unit also confirmed the number of the injured.
