Kenya’s political parties have been given a five-day extension to perfect the nomination of candidates for the August general elections.
A court ruled this Tuesday that primaries must be concluded by May the 1st, after it an earlier deadline of April the 26th.
Kenya’s political parties have argued that the deadlines would deny party members the right to choose their candidates for elections.
But the country’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission says the parties must have completed their primaries by the said date.

The request for extension follows a series of controversies that have resulted to cancellation of results and postponement of the nomination exercise at various centres.
