Zambian Opposition Leader, Hakainde Hichilema has been granted bail by the magistrate court.
But it’s unclear if or when he and his five co-accused will be released.
This is because his treason charge has been referred to the Lusaka High Court. In ruling on Wednesday morning, The magistrate the lower court could not throw out the treason charge because that’s the jurisdiction of the high court.
Hichilema has been charged with plotting to overthrow President Edgar Lungu’s government.
He was arrested two weeks ago after his motorcade failed to give way for the President’s.
Hichilema and his co-accused will be back in the Magistrate’s court on Thursday morning
