Lagos state has earmarked more than two billion Naira for sports facilities and development.
This was made known by the chairman of the state’s sports commission Deji Tinubu at a presentation in Lagos.
He revealed government’s plan to commit more than 9 billion Naira in rehabilitating existing facilities and building new ones in designated parts of state.
Tinubu also spoke of his successes in revamping school sports and ongoing plans to engage students in active sports.
Educationists are in tandem with the efforts of the sports commission in taking school sports seriously.
They say future stars can only be discovered and nurtured from schools.
These submissions were made during a school sports festival held in Yaba, Lagos where young kids of different age categories competed for honours in different events.
