A multi-storey building under construction collapsed in Nigeria’s commercial city Lagos on Thursday (May 18), killing at least one person and leaving several others trapped in the rubble.
The collapse occurred at 2pm local time.
Rescue workers and emergency officials are continuing to search the ruins of the building.
16 people have so far been rescued and taken to hospital.
Building collapses are not uncommon in Nigeria, and are often blamed by officials on substandard materials and disregard for building regulations.
