The nominees for the fourth edition of the Nigeria pitch awards have been officially released by the organisers through the Nigeria football federation.
The pitch awards covers all positions in football and celebrate players of Nigerian descent playing at home and abroad.
The selection was done by a college of voters made up of sports managers and stakeholders across the 36 states of the federation.
There are 18 categories in all, with the final three nominees have been shortlisted.
Veteran goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is in the race for the Goalkeeper of the year award. But he faces a stiff contest from current Super Eagles number 1 – Carl Ikeme and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
Defender of the year award would go to any of Leon Balogun, Kenneth Omeruo and Williams Troost-Ekong.
For the best midfielder award, Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Wilfred Ndidi are in the running.
While Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho will have Godwin Obaje and Chisom Egbuchulam to beat for the best striker’s award.
The pitch awards will hold on June 4th in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state shortly after Nigeria’s Nations cup qualifier against South Africa.
