Minister of Science and Technology Ogbonaya Onu is assuring that the government is ready to use science to solve problems stunting national growth.
Onu disclosed this while speaking at the inauguration of the Pozzolana Pilot plant in Ota, Ogun State.
TVC News Kazeem Olowe who was there reports that Shelter is one of the basic needs of humans and lack of affordable housing has been one of the major challenges confronting Nigerians.
In a bid to find a lasting solution to lack of affordable housing, a federal agency, Nigeria Building Research Institute, a few years ago embarked on a research on how to get quality and cheaper building materials and came up with the Pozzallana Cement.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Pozzolana pilot plant located at Nigeria Building and Road Research Institute, Ota, Ogun State, the Minister said the product came out of waste products and it’s part of the waste to wealth ideology.
While appealing to investors to tap into the opportunity provided by the research Institute, the Minister said the ministry is interested in coming up with innovations that will help the country out of its challenges.
Other speakers at the event noted that Pozzolana is environmental friendly unlike other cement that contains green house gas emission which is contributing to global warming.
