The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, has decried population increase as one of the major challenges confronting the management of the Corps.
But he believes that the challenge will soon be a thing of the past with adequate supports from the federal government .
He made this known in Sagamu, Ogun State, when he visited the NYSC orientation Camp in the State.
The DG who was impressed with the conduct of the 2017 Batch A corps members in the state and the standard of facility in the camp said NYSC received about forty thousand additional corps members from the figure anticipated.
On how to engage corps members meaningfully and to empower them to be self reliant, the DG said they have built four farm houses in different parts of the country to encourage corps members to go into Agriculture.
He noted that the farm houses are presently a pilot scheme and would soon be extended to other parts of the country in order to encourage youth to contribute to food production and be self sustaining without white collar jobs.
