Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described Rivers State as one of the pillars of his success during his eight years in office.
Jonathan spoke during his visit to the Port Harcourt to inaugurate a road project as part of activities to commemorate the state’s 50th anniversary celebration.
TVC News Uche Okoro reports that Jonathan used the opportunity of the visit to express his appreciation for the support he received from the people of Rivers state during his tenure as president.
He said he also honored the invitation for the inauguration because of what he described as the unprecedented infrastructural development recorded in the state in the last two years.
Governor Nyesom Wike who addressed the crowd said critics of the former president Jonathan’s administration are only doing so to as he puts it…advance their selfish political interests.
He reassured the former President that Rivers State remains solidly behind him, politically.
This second Nkpogu Bridge is expected to ease traffic congestion around the Trans-Amadi industrial layout axis, one of the major commercial hubs in Port Harcourt city.
Governor Wike said the completion of the project is another fulfillment of his electioneering campaign promise that his administration will not leave behind any abandoned project in the state.
