Zamfara state has recorded a huge success in containing the outbreak of meningitis C.
This feat was achieved after a well coordinated vaccination programme was carried out across the state.
Clouds of pain and sorrow hover the atmosphere as we arrived Gora, a local community in Zamfara State.
It was the first community to witness an outbreak of meningitis C.
According to reports, more than four hundred persons died as a result of the outbreak alone in the state.
But this health official believes the figure was much higher.
He blames the relevant authorities for the situation. We visited some of the treatment centres in the state capital and it is evident there is been a decline in the number of cases recorded. Although this is cheering news for the locals, they want the government to put in place measures to check a further recurrence.
