The Apapa Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted seven 40 feet containers of pharmaceutical products, imported into the country from China, over false declaration.
Area Comptroller of the Command, Musa Jibrin revealed that the containers had different pharmaceutical products, as against what was declared on the importer’s manifest.
He also disclosed that a suspect has been arrested, in connection with the drugs not certified by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.
While handing the seized consignments to NAFDAC for further investigation, the comptroller stated that the Apapa Customs command has generated more than 136 billion naira in five months and recovered 1.8 billion naira from infractions.
