Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation said it has crashed the pump price of Automotive Gas Oil, known as diesel, by 42 per cent nationwide.
The oil firm says this is a great reduction over the past six months with series of interventions in the downstream oil sector.
NNPC,General Manager, Public Affairs Division,Ndu Ughamadu, said in the first quarter of this year, the controlled price of diesel was N300 per litre in major demand centres across the country.
He added that the interventions by the oil firm for improvement in the supply of diesel and retail price as of May this year reduced to N175 and N200 per litre, a decrease of about 42 per cent.
Meanwhile the ex-depot price dropped to b N135 and N155 per litre.
