Andy Murray’s hopes of a maiden French Open title is over with the world number one losing to Stan Wawrinka in five scintillating sets in the semi-finals.
The Swiss third seed fought back from two sets to one down with a spellbinding performance in the fifth-set decider to seal a 6-7 6-3 5-7 7-6 6-1 triumph.
Wawrinka remains on course for a second french open title.
He now sets up a date with Rafael Nadal in Sunday’s final.
Nadal beat Austrian Dominic Thiem 6-3 6-4 6-0 to reach his first French Open final in three years.
