An America-based businessman, Adekunle Esan, has promised to take Ekiti state to greater heights if elected the next governor of the ‘Fountain of Knowledge’ state.
“Lele” as being referred to in the political circles, is the latest entrant in the Ekiti 2018 governorship race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in a chat with newsmen during the week, the Ilawe Ekiti born businessman turned politician said Ekiti state and Ekiti people deserve the best from government, claiming he has what it takes to govern the state successfully.
He said: “Ekiti and its people deserve the best from the government unlike what is happening now now in our dear sate. My decision to contest for the exalted seat was borne out of my love for this state.”
Esan contested for a seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1992 but could not secure the ticket. He eventually returned back to Lagos and got employed at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where he served for two years. He got employed again in NPA and worked for 12 years before voluntarily retired from service.
The Ekiti state governorship election holds next year with incumbent governor, Ayodele Fayose indicating interest that he might recontest, a move that is already eliciting mixed reactions.
