Iran is the second team to qualify for next year’s World Cup finals after defeating Uzbekistan 2-0 in the Asian qualifiers.
The three-time Asian champions join Brazil as the qualified nations so far.
Sardar Azmoun and Mehdi Taremi with the strikes as Iran reached back-to-back World Cup tournaments for the first time.
It will be their fifth World Cup appearance.

The win means coach Carlos Queiroz’s team will finish in the top two places in Group A of Asia’s final round of qualifying with two games remaining.
