The Federal Government has assured Nigerians of their safety and security after the ultimatum given to Igbos by a northern group to leave the region.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed told state house correspondent after the Federal Executive Council Meeting in Abuja that the threat is not new, and is being handled by the relevant government agencies.
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum had issued a three months ultimatum for all Igbos in the 19 northern states to vacate the region.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna state government has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of youths who on Tuesday gave Ibos in the north three months to vacate the region.
The governor, Nasir El-Rufai through his media aide described the move as a threat to national unity.
El-Rufai said the action violates laws of the state and cannot be tolerated.
He said his state would always accommodate people irrespective of their ethnicity.
