President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday presided over a crucial meeting of the National Security Council.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Defence, General Gabriel Olonisakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibot-Ete Ibas and the Inspector-General of Police.

Others at the meeting, include the National Security Adviser, Babangana Monguno, and the the Director-General, Department of State State Security, Lawal Daura.

The meeting was the first presided over by the president since he returned to the country, after more than 100 days in London for medical treatment.

Sources say the meeting may be connected with the President’s charge to the security agencies not to relent in their fight against insurgency in his presidential broadcast to the nation on Monday.
