Bayelsa state Deputy Governor, Gboribiogha John Jonah and other speakers at a public lecture in Yenagoa said issuing licenses to illegal refinery operators to transit to modular refineries will reduce environmental pollution in oil-producing states like
Bayelsa.
Oil pollution is mainly caused by the failure of International Oil Companies’ equipment and also sabotage.
Perhaps more disturbing is pollution by illegal refineries where the waste is discarded into the sea, rivers and lakes after distilling diesel, petrol and kerosene from crude.
At the Engineer Professor Telimoye Oguara Public Lecture, the Bayelsa State Deputy governor suggests a solution to the problem.
Speaker at the public lecture share their thoughts on designing and building modular refineries and having the operators in clusters.
