Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has declared a three-day curfew in the state effective Tuesday and will be in place till Thursday, beginning from 6 pm for the three days.
The governor says the decision came after the skirmish that broke out between some groups in the State, especially Indigenous People of Biafra with men of the Nigerian Army.
He also advised Abians to remain law abiding and carry on their lawful business without fear.
Meanwhile, a detachment of the Nigerian army invaded the premises of the National union of Journalists, Abia state chapter in Umuahia destroying properties and other electronic gadgets.
Journalists on duty were also beaten up.
Some of the journalists say they are shocked that the military could take this action without proper investigation.
The army relaunched operation python dance two in the south east to deal with agitations, assassinations and kidnapping.
The journalists want the military authorities to educate their personnel on their rules of engagement.
