Hundreds of students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo state have staged a peaceful protest to the Governor’s office, to demand prompt payment of their lecturers’ salaries.
The students who barricaded the front of the office for hours were armed with placards bearing various inscriptions.
Led by Union President, Temitayo Ayeduyo, the aggrieved students observed that delay in payment of the lecturers’ entitlements had negatively dragged their education backwards.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who commended the students for making the protest peaceful, condemned the lecturers’ industrial action, describing it as uncalled for.
